Brake pedal pad too wide
Hi all, well I have big feet and this has been annoying me for some time. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to narrow the brake pedal pad on a 2005 E53 4.4i ? I find getting my wide feet in the narrow passage to the accelerator sometimes difficult. I am sue I am not the only one with this issue. I thought about literally cutting off some brake pedal pad. Cant seem to find narrow pads on the internet.

I wear 14's. I guess I'm used to having limited space for my feet to operate. I would agree it would be nice to have a little more room, but it never has bothered me enough to pursue it. I'll be curious where you go with this.

How big are your feet?! Do you drive in clown shoes?!
I wear a US size 13 and am 6'3" and never had any problems. There are acres of room compared to other cars! However, in response to your question about what can be done about it... If you pull off the rubber cover, the pedal is just a plate of metal that you can cut down if you so desire. Then trim the rubber to suit. |
6’8” with size 16 extra wide. smile

No kidding on the B pillar blind spot X5chemist. |
I am a UK size 9 and have several times applied the foot brake and hit the accelerator at the same time, frightening to say the least.
Only cure i have found is to have narrower shoes or drive barefoot plus slippers. Plus I could cut the brake pedal narrower with a hacksaw. Lez |
Do you drive an automatic or manual shift X5? If auto, then try using your left foot to brake. I'm assuming that X5's in OZ use the same pedal arrangement as here in the US (never seen the pedals in videos).
That's the way I learned to drag race, then I drove that way for years (on the street, too), until my left leg (brake) became hard to use with a very bad knee and chronic sciatica there. I occasionally still drive that way, but soon have to stop when it hurts. |
