open windows

Twice now I've gone out the the car in the AM and found all the windows open. (still locked) Fortunately, no rain or snow and no one has taken advantage. Cause??? Cure??? I definitely don't want this to happen again. Will check with my dealer in another hour.

this has happened to me also i am not sure why becuase i have tested it by thinking maybe some one sat on the keys you know, so i tried to get to work but it would even unlock the doors from inside my house and it did unlock only when i was standing my the window pointing at the car it self so i am at a loss as to why it happening, so far its done it to me about 3 times and one time it started to sprinkle outside and fortunatly i went out at the right time and saw it so it got a little wet but nothing to damage anything inside.

can you get them back up? my first thought was a window regulator problem. my last X did that. went to work, parked it with all of the windows up. went to leave work and the back window was all the way down. in my case it was the window regulator.

Only the driver's side door opened, not the other doors - got in - driver's window I had to hold to get up, others went up normally - off to the dealer now - both keys were on desk in my den.

Happens to me all the time (my vehicle is in a garage) because I inadvertantly press the key in my pocket up against a kitchen counter, or get the key in a pinch while squating to work on something. I've even set off the emergency alarm. Leave the key out of your pocket for several days and I bet it won't happen.

If only one window opened, it can't be becuase of the key. Others have had this problem; I think all have been linked to the regulator.

OK - dealer showed me how this happens

1st) car must be locked
2nd) press door unlock once to unlock driver's door
3rd) press again and hold - eventually the windows start coming down

4th) automatic up - put key in door lock, turn to lock, then hold

it was a relatively long hold - hard to imagine it happening because some of the other things on the keychain happened to press the unlock button - will most definitely remove my keys from my pocket when I enter my home - my dealer said it happened to someone who was shopping and came out to find the car unlocked, windows down, and his golf clubs missing. Bummer!

Personally, this is a feature I can do without.

it's not a bad feature to have on those
extremely hot and humid days though.

glad to hear that it was nothing major
though.

Actually, it doesn't matter if the vehicle is locked or not. The windows will lower if you hold the unlock button for a couple of seconds.

I have once or twice accidentally activated the panic alarm while squatting down, but if your windows are opening on a regular basis you need to ditch the butthuggers and get some looser pants!
