@15:11 Wow, requires more patience than I have! :wow: His wiring has the same cracks as mine. |
Youtube link doesn't work, X5chemist.
I inspected the wiring and couldn't find any obvious signs of problems. I replaced my alternator just moments ago and the whine went away -- haven't seen my headlights flicker in the last couple of days either. Hoping it was somehow related to the alternator going out. As for the taillights, I am well acquainted with the taillight electrical problems but never had them cause any issues outside the taillights. I replaced one of them last year with a brand new unit and repaired the other. |
Here's the link to M539Restorations headlight wiring fix. Starts @15:11

Update: Since the alternator replacement I haven't seen the problem once, including about 30 mins of night driving last night. Hoping this was just a symptom of a bad alternator!

That’s great. If you encounter it again let us know. I have it happen every 3 months or so and had to clean up a power steering link from the reservoir. It got all over my alternator but it’s still working. If you don’t have it happen again I’ll probably go about replacing mine too. It’s probably time anyway. |
I got a chance to drive for 4 hours before dawn this morning and didn't see them flicker once. Hopefully this one is solved!!!

I only noticed this happen when I have auto lights enabled. This stopped happening when I switched the lights to ON. Could it be the darkness sensor? I still haven't figured it out and it's pretty infrequent.
