Cheers for those! I'll certainly look into it some more.


I remembered that the ebay seller of my front unit (called the MID?) actually took a video to show it working in their car. There was no flickering so I'm pretty certain it's not that at fault, so is either the wiring around the car or another component affecting it.

MID (Multi-Functional Information Display) is something else...

Ah yes, thanks. I'm still getting up to speed with the various models, this being my first BMW.


What is the correct name for my head-unit, the one with the large screen and buttons either-side?

BMW calls it a "Board Monitor," because of course they do. Most call it the large nav screen. They did make a smaller, half nav screen, for the early models.
