A/C Heater control valve from Amazon?
 

I am replacing the heater control valve (64128374995) because I am getting hot air on one center vent and cold air on the other... These things are apparently known culprits for that...

Has anyone installed a cheap one from Amazon? What's your experience been with these? How long did they last?

The one's on Amazon are like $30 vs the Febi $120 or BMW $180.... So, something's gotta give :-)

So I think you are referring to the Heater control valve (HCV)..It is separate from the AC system.

We have had mixed results from the cheap HCV's...most of which are made in China...It will probably last a few years.

But that may not be your problem. Low coolant, and/or a bad HVAC console are just as likely to casue the condition you describe. The HCV usually fails in the open position. Keeping heat on all the time.

Don't you mean low refrigerant and not coolant...
