New X3 For My CEO, Still Have E53...
4 Attachment(s)
Replaced my CEO's 2017 X1 with a new 2023 X3 this week...
Still have our 22 year old E53, which is my 2nd Fave car in 60+ yrs worth of lots of different cars. Since there is no current X3/G01 forum here, I tossed this post in this forum. X1 was 'OK', wife liked it much more than I did, but she was 'due' for new car and we wanted one slightly bigger inside, esp front seating area and rear trunk. So we searched online for weeks, in a wide geographical area and found a new X3 that had ~ 98% of what she wanted and few items we didn't care about either way. Drove over to TN, test drove the new X3, traded her X1, had decent & reasonable negotiations with dealer, wrote a personal check for the difference and drove it home. The telematics on the new X3 are labyrinth, complex and v 'involved' for us Geezers, but we are learning, as they say in 'Remedial Class for low tech Geezers' :D New X3 is basically E53 size in dimensions, though a bit lower and less trunk space than the E53. Dunno where the 'space' went vs the E53, but the X3 is bigger in most dimensions vs her previous X1, which is what we were seeking. Still really like our 2001 Sport 5 Spd manual E53, (bought new way back when), and I will probably keep it for awhile/forever/until I go off to Valhalla. Hope all of the usual Regs/Faves and usual posters here are doing OK! GL, from RetiredBumDom Ville: Ol'UncleMotor |
mD, Congrats on the new ride for the missus! Very surprised to hear there are less "trunk" space in the X3, especially since it had grown so much in size. I've always heard that it had more trunk space than the E53 going all the way back to the E83 X3! Seems like "usable" trunk space is what matters? As always, it's great to hear from you. Nice stable and fine crib

Congrats, I think the G01's 30i's drive very nicely, albeit with much less sporty intent than our E53s. My mom has the same car and it's solid, quiet, and peppy. Just replace the weak points in the cooling system every 50k miles, and otherwise they're pretty reliable.
