Help me locate the low pressure AC port
 

I need recharge AC. Not sure which is the low pressure port. I see a port close the front (where the AC information sticker is) and a port close the firewall. These pictures atteched is from the port close the firewall. My car is X5 E53 BMW X5 4.4i.

Pretty sure it is the one you have in the photo, by the firewall, based on my experience with other cars.

big is high side, small is low side.

The port fitted the refiller set I have but the gauge showed pressure att the red area.

I cant get the fan to run, maybe the compressor dosent run even. But that maybe another problem

If it gets too low it won’t charge via the home kits, because either the compress won’t run and/or not enough vacuum to suck it in even tho the cans are under pressure. In my experience on other cars you can short the compressor to keep it running while charging, but I’ve never done this on the x5.

Not sure if they have quick oil and other service places near you, but if so I’d take it to one that can evacuate the system fully, pull a vacuum, and then fully recharge the system. Less than 30 min and under $100 US down the street from me at Speedee lube.

If the compressor won’t kick on, low side and high side pressure will be equal (and too high). You can’t add to a system that isn’t running unless it’s basically empty.

Roughly speaking, I’d expect a system at rest to show around 90 psi. (Don’t make any decisions based on that - it varies system to system and by ambient temperature by quite a lot. The only thing 90ish psi tells me is that the system should have enough in it to kick on and function at least somewhat.)

You have enough pressure in the system for it to turn on. You’ve got ti track down the cause of the compressor not kicking. A bad aux fan connection can do it.
