Does this apply to most brands, makes, and models?

Yep if brushed motor.

I found a crazy extensive study on the subject.

4000 if pure gas,
5000 if E10
6000 if E20

(So there's the literally only useful thing about ethanol polluted gas).

If they did diesel sadly I forgot.

It's spooky accurate also.

Both mine and wife's E53 fuel pump quit at 132000 ± 2000 miles and divide by 5000=26.4

My avg mph was 27 at the time.

It’s funny you posted that. My dad (Vietnam era Aircraft mechanic/engineer) said, “you know kid, now that your running 80% ethanol in your rig, your fuel pump may be a bit more happier, and last a little longer“. I’m at 99,800 miles, and I’ve been contemplating putting a new one in. He was saying the alcohol probably cleaned a lot of the gunk already.

So I gather from what you’re saying is, it’s a matter of when the brushes fail.

Not about cleaning about being slippery so it doesn't wear the brushes as fast.

Interesting. I’ve always thought petrol was a better lubricant than ethanol.

Gasoline is not as clean as people think so probably is more abrasive.

I suspect it dissolves more micro solids that abrade the brushes faster
