Good luck. The 4.8's don't seem to do very well on there. Though a low-mileage m54 recently went through there for great money, sooooo... yeah, guess you never know.

Will be good for forum members to gauge what their rides are worth on the open market. Mine has fewer issues than 4.8is sales in recent history, so hopefully bidders go back and check what those sold for. If there's only one buyer interested at the end, it won't do all that well, but a little competition would make a for a better result.

Best of luck - that's my car's twin! I've been tempted to throw it up on BaT, but I think I'm just going to list it conventionally and hang on to it until it sells - I still love to drive it, but could use the space. I know I'll never make even half of my money back, but mine has about $14k worth of new OE/OEM parts on it installed within the last 5k miles.

Yeah, owning an older BMW can't be about the costs or keeping above water on the ultimate resale. When we bought it, my wife and I decided to set aside a small amount (roughly half that of a normal new car payment) of savings each month in a special 'car fund' account, so we'd be ready for any big repairs. We were fortunate to not have to put any major dents in the account for the X5. It's been good to us so far. (Our 2007 Mini Cooper S on the other hand was a complete money pit that did draw down our balance in very large chunks)

THANKS for the supportive comments on the listing and for all the great advice you add to this forum - especially with the Android head unit install/troubleshooting.

Good way of going about it! I got mine mainly as a project and it’s been a ton of fun to work on. A lot of the money spent was maintenance but also “while I’m in there” items, so thankfully not all of that is from unexpected failures lol. I also have an r53 mini Cooper s, and that’s also been a joy to own. I put about $5k into it right after I inherited it from my father, and it’s a fun little go kart that’s still able to haul my dogs and I don’t get the same worry about parking next to people, etc. as I do with my x5, so it’s refreshing!

$13,500. That was a fun ride at the end there!

It is! The buyer is bigtime into E46's, works for a parts dealer, and has an overhauled spare N62 engine sitting in his garage in case anything happens to the original! This is a best case scenario.
