All the more bad idea to convert if parts are hard to get. Air springs are about the least expensive and lightest parts on e53.

The models on e53 are crazy reliable. I had to replace on e70 at 1/3 the odometer vs. e53. (but e70 even easier to repair)

Is there a chance i will burn out the compressor? will it be attempting to inflate and be on all the time i am driving until i get this sorted?

Is there a fuses at rear to pull to disable it from coming on?

If the compressor runs too long it will disable itself. If the rear stays low that's almost always why. Errors need to be cleared after installing new springs.

I've only ever replaced one at a time. On the e53 I think I only ever replaced one and the other lasted to 205k miles 330k km. The e70 failed ≈ 80 and 85k miles.

Man o man you are right it did kick in so to speak and then stop , and so did the hissing sound too I guess it stopped trying to fill en impossible to fill bag....

You will think though that the fuse would be a safety mechanism to protect the compressor from overworking/heating?

Not a bad idea to pull the fuses (I believe there are two) since they should be pulled anyhow to do the repair.

The car will settle down on the rubber bump stops which is a very bumpy experience just drive very slow.

Guess wot my new worry is, that mechanic picks up wrong ones, I have the sportpackages and self levelling on rear axle alone so guess it is highlighted one correct part number..

87 (30a) opened the rear, car with car not startred and could hear compressor trying to fill up airsupsension. pulling fuse 87 stopped compressor working as could hear it go off, so safe to say it wont kick in when i try to drive tomorrow.

Not sure if I will go into limp mode though????
