Panoramic roof pops in vent mode

As title,

I greased all the rails and loosened the two hex bolts, however when putting the roof in 'vent' mode, it seems to struggle then 'pops' open. Obviously this isn't right, what else can I check and do?

Anyone?

So you also greased the wedge mechanism which actuates the rear vent position? This is easier to do from the cabin side. Did you use BMW special grease for these?

On the seals you could use BMW fluorinated lubricants Carbaflo or newer Krytox.

Great thanks. I do believe I greased that part, I'll grease it more!

if its popping, it means your two glass sheets re too tight to one another and they need to be adjusted/separated, just a hair.

Any idea how I can go about this?

there is a thread somewhere on here about pano roof realignment. Basically you loosen the torx screws (behind the long black accordion boots) and shift glass plates forward a bit and make sure the back part of front (larger) glass sheet is raised higher than the front of that glass piece, like a slight ramp.

Just to update the thread if anyone comes searching with this same problem..

I eventually fixed it simply by giving all the rubber seals that seal against the painted roof a good scrub with all purpose cleaner. Seems dirt had solidified on the rub points causing tolerances to be too tight. Works a charm after a full clean.
