Will water in muffler cause issues?
 

Not your typical condensation.
I placed the whole muffler in water as I was doing electrolysis. I wanted to remove some rust from it.
I know lol, probably no one else has ever done something like this before...
Little did I know, the muffler absorbed a lot of water and it doesn't come out, so now it's full of water inside
Is the muffler destroyed/plugged, or will it dry after a certain time. Can I put it back on the car?

I was thinking of maybe just doing away with it all together and getting this part:

There is a lot of moisture on normal functioning. The glass fiber absorbent will not be harmed. It will vaporise after it has warmed up enough.

You might also have water in the space between the interior and exterior shells. It will also boil out over time and shouldn’t cause issues.

Did you take before and after pics of the electrolytic rust removal? Post if you did.

The muffler and the pipe were too unwieldy to stay inside the tote I was using for electrolysis.
I ended up just cleaning with a wire brush and painting

My I did my half shafts, calipers, suspension springs etc with electrolysis, it worked great.

A couple of parts I couldn't do with electrolysis were subframe (too big to fit) and differential (it probably will rust inside if the water gets it.

I tried sandblasting the differential but it makes too much mess in the garage, I might try find someone who can do it professionally.
