Update on my initial posts
Ok, good news, no great news. Installed a charged battery. Figured out how to use the Foxwell to resync the DME and the EWS. Rig fired right up. Ran rough, but it is smoothing out. Hasn’t been run in a few months. Oddly, there was no leak under the car until a few weeks ago, its brake fluid, weird. Any thoughts there would be appreciated. Pulled the final stage unit and found the old one with a sort of bubbled up spot that looks like it heated up at some point. Either way, it’s replaced. I’ve cleared all codes and we’ll see what comes back. The air sniffer sensor up on the cowling is giving me a code. I can’t thank this forum enough. I will be refreshing the cooling system starting tomorrow.

There's a factory defect on likely every e53 made where one or both of the year brake pipes below the footwell of the left front seat is bent too much and broke the paint shop it will eventually fail. Badly. If that aligns with where you saw drops that's where to start.
Great you got EWS sync'd! |
Nice! Glad to see another X being taken care of right.

The round pins on final stage resistor connector are known to loosen internally after years. Renew the female pins on the connector or at least use some oxide contact cleaner and then contact paste on them. (I once had a problem of non-responding blower caused by poor contact on that very same connector and it was the low voltage PWM activation line. There have even been cases where the plastics have caught fire because of heat up due to contact resistance.)
