2001 E53 3.0L GM3 issues

I have a 2001 X5 that I have had more than a few adventures with (not while driving) and finally
running good for a while now,but I am having issues with the GM3 once the car is started:
- Warning flashers come on
- Door lock button doesn't work
- Dome/door lights stay on
- Steering is heavy (probably not related)
Issues I am having (other than having never done this before) is when using NCS Expert, I enter the VIN, but it is asking for the GM/SA/VN.
No clue where to find those numbers.
Also, I am using a "INPA K+ CAN Ediabas", with the switch for 7/8 but it seems like it is not connecting with the program.
I must be doing something wrong, just not sure what. Normally these things don't bother me but since I am heading overseas
I want to sell it so the new owners don't have to deal with it.

You should have continued the other thread you started on this 4 months ago.. That way people know the back story and what you have already replaced.

That thread indicated you bought a replacement GM3 module...Have you coded it to your car? or is that what you're trying to do with NCS Expert?

When doing basic coding with NCS you first read the ZCS from instrument cluster (IKE/KMB) or EWS. You don't enter VIN or ZCS (GM, SA, VN). Then just choose GM3 as a module to code. Make sure the job is SG_CODIEREN and execute.

You are probably right about continuing the post, but why bring up bad memories! Right now I am trying to code the replacement GM3 to the car with the NCS Expert and it does not appear to be communicating with the car. That of course has to be put on hold for a day or two since my new project is to replace the alternator on my wife's 2003 Nissan Altima 3.5, should be fun.

You can use INPA as a quick test to see if there is communication with the car. There could be a problem with your cable, settings etc. I don't remember exactly the possible issues but there is tons of info on the internet about getting it working.
