Any tricks to keeping this roof seal down?

3M exterior trim tape doesn’t hold. I’m guessing this might flop around some when driving. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1638519874.jpg

Did a little test with a small piece of this stuff and it holds but it’s pretty aggressive. Seems overkill. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2dc87479e2.jpg

If it attaches to a plastic frame ( not just paint /clear coat), I might put a dab or two of RTV on the front of that seal.

It does adhere directly to paint.

Glad you brought this up. I had the same question. Both sides flap around during/after a drive-thru carwash. It's easy enough to put them back in the channel, but worried one day they'll come off completely.

I was thinking of just putting a small dab of silicone or something underneath each, but wasn't sure that would hold or if that would affect water draining or something. Let us know if you find a solution.

I have the same exact thing. I saw a guy on YouTube replace those on an E90 I think. I'm not really sure yet what to do. Here are the part #s at least

Im a big fan of this adhesive E6000 it's the best, used it last on the panoramic roof rubber trim, holds nicely and it's been 2years now since.

Replacing it with a new one won't do anything. The finisher (part #1 on your link) has the double sided tape on it and will just fail again. I assume water gets in that channel and eventually the adhesive fails.

Are you talking about the outer perimeter rubber seal for the pano glass? You used this stuff to hold the seal back to the body?

Each glass has a rubber seal surrounding, for me the middle section were the two glass panels meet was a problem section.
