Heater blower motor purchase

I need to buy the above as mine is acting up but I’ve done a search and there seems to be several different types. Some are listed for just AC, some for climate control, some with a regulator and some without.. Odd. And that was using Realoem part number.
So I need one for a 2001 4.4 with climate control. Does it really matter as I would have thought a motor is a motor..

The Blower motor is part# 64118385558.

But before you go to the trouble of replacing it. I believe there is a way to more easily remove the final stage resistor (FSR) and test the operation of your existing HVAC blower fan by putting 12v to it.... Please have a search.

I put in a cheapo hedgehog and the fan ran at full chat even with the key out. I’ve replaced it with a proper one and now it doesn’t run - just makes a groaning noise every now and then.
When I had the hedgehog out I was able to move the fan blades with a stick so it’s not jammed. I connected the hedgehog but not in its hole and the fan ran ok but a bit noisy.
I put the thing back in it’s hole and now it doesn’t run..

Sounds like you might have a problem with the connections, maybe have a good look at those.

Maybe but the fan started squeaking several months ago which progressed to a loud groaning so I think it's had enough.

Ha! I was just about to purchase a new blower motor and get prepared to dismantle the inside of the car when I thought I’ll just have another look.
Sprayed the plug on the harness with brake cleaner and slightly bent the pins on the hedgehog to ensure a real good connection.
Plugged in and it works. Doesn’t seem to be noisy either but I only switched the ignition on and off a few times to test it.
Fingers crossed.
