retro fitting the auxiliary heater is it possible

Like the title was wondering how much of a job this would be obviously my first snag is my cars a petrol and the heater is a diesel , but if i need to i could always add an extra tank just to fuel the heater , o did i mention ive already brought a load of parts from a breakers yard :lmao: what can i say it was a bargain who doesn't love one of them , so far ive noticed the mounting brackets are there for the heater as is the plugs for it , just wondering what else wiring wise i need , once i get my phone and laptop talking to each other ill upload a picture of the parts i have me and tech not a good mix LOL .

Not sure if this brings any help to your case but I have a retrofitted gasoline powered Eberspächer heater in my 3.0i. Has its own gas line coming straight from the fuel tank. The heater itself is located in front of the engine bay in the passenger side. Plenty of room with the M54. My previous 4.6is also had a Eberspächer heater but it was a much more snug fit.

There was a petrol-fueled option for the Webasto aux. heater - several BMW cars had them as an option.

*edit* - here's the unit you need in a "benzin" (petrol/gasoline) car: -

Hello wpoll didn't realise there was a petrol fuelled one this could save a bit of work thank you , the parts diagrams are also a big help i don't suppose you have a link to the part numbers , i did try to install the heater exhaust yesterday but no matter how i twisted and turned it it wasn't going in its like it gets fitted before the engine goes in :dunno:

Petrol Webasto Aux Heater parts list...

There are many other parts needed that aren't on this diagram (mainly water hoses and valves, as shown above) but part numbers and layout etc. depends on the engine and year - i.e. M63 vs N62 etc.

My car is a 2004 N62 it seems there are no part numbers for them diagrams as i guess the parts are no longer available from BMW , i do have a selection of hoses and valves but i think these are from the diesel engine so not sure what's usable , so my search keeps going.

The hoses image above is for the independent heating option and is therefore more complicated that the standard set up. ;)

For example, on my diesel, the standard hose setup is...

But add the independent heating option and...
