Rear window won't stay UP

Noticed a weird tappy/clicky sound behind me. Left rear window was up, but I'd put it down earlier. Put it back down, and it starts jerkily going back up by itself, then I hear the same noise like the motor is twitchy.

Regulator time?

One thing after another this week...

edit: title (I can't change it) should be "Rear window won't stay DOWN", and after about a 30min shutdown it was fine.

Can also just be the bottom screw/nut so look before ordering.

Always look before ordering -- take the door card off, figure out what broke (like andrew said, could be a $10 clippy or it could be the regulator or motor) and then tape the window up until the parts come. Best to keep some clips in stock honestly, if you haven't replaced the other windows. I think four out of five failures for me was a clip.

Also lube up the window guides. Most failures are from too much stess from old window guides with no lube. I'll use silicone spray for the window edges

So your window is going up by itself and you're hearing a clicking noise?

Does it sound like the window motor keeps running?

Window running up on its own usually means shorted switch.

One of my rear doors started doing this. Kid defeat stopped it in it's tracks and apparently the switch dried out and stopped running on its own.

Likely the plastic dog that is $6 on eBay.

Unsure what is the plastic dog, but this started when I disconnected the window switch boxes on the two front doors (to pull the cards, that now seem to have developed a bad connection. The doors lock but no alarm chirp with the remote. I've tried reseating those twice, it'll appear to work, then it won't.

Yes to the first, no to the second. But after a restart, it behaved normally again.

It sounds like you have a faulty rear switch. Engage the rear window override and you should be able to control from the driver door.

Put the window party down and then turn off the windows lock out switch. Wait and see if it wants to roll up on its own. Mine did the same a while back then started behaving normally. I figure some water got in the switch and made it press itself until it dried out..
