BC button lost most data points

Hi, I was messing around trying to reset my consumption data and for some reason now lost all my stuff on the dash. When I buy the BC button on the stalk, it just shows the Consumption 1. When I hit it again, it turns off the display. Hit it again and consumption 1 comes on, and so on. How do I get back to show all, but basically just want my range back. Thank you.

If you push BC button longer there should be a selection on the nav screen where you can choose which options are showing.

Thanks. No NAV but I'll mess around with holding the button longer.

So, if you don't have NAV but have the OBC options appear when you press the BC button on the tip of the stalk...that means your E53 came with the HIGH MID.

The instructions for programming the OBC features you want to appear are in the owners manual. If you no longer have the manual...I believe you begin to set things up by
  • PRESSING & HOLDING the BC button on the tip of the turn indicator
  • PROG 1 should then appear on the instrument cluster display
  • You then press the button on the MID for the OBC feature you want to appear on your list...in the order that you want that feature to appear. Each selection will count as a new PROG (ie PROG 2, PROG 3, etc)
  • PRESS the SET button when you've selected all the features you want. If you want all of them...then simply press the SET button after PROG 1 appears.
If you've removed the MID and installed an aftermarket unit in its place...then all the above is moot since you've removed the OBC (the MID is the control panel for the OBC/Audio/Phone)...thus there's nothing to program if the MID is gone. :(

Same instructions above apply to those that have the Nav display...the OBC features will list on the central display screen and you select the ones you want, then press SET when finished.

Thank you. I'll give it a try. My cars are basically stock. Not sure what the MID is. Basically I have the little dot matrix displays. I can use BC on the stalk or on the center console display. I'll also reference the manual, which I do have

I see now. Yes both my x5 have MID controls.

MID = Multi-function Information Display.

Some call this the "radio", since the MID is used to control the radio functions, along with other items.
