abs junction box mounts

I removed the inner fender liner from my 03 X5 for a body shop to perform some work and had to remove the ABS and brake sensor black box to do so. When I went to reinstall the box after the work was complete, the box doesn't seem to want to snap into anything.

Are there receptors that snap into the body to receive the black abs box in the wheel well?

try to find a picture of a new one. I have a feeling they’re single use barb

They are single use. The new ones I bought don't snap in however, I think I accidentally bought E39 boxes which look the same but have a different part number so the barbs might be smaller.

I got the correct part but they still fit very loosely into the mounting holes. Has anyone replaced these before? I also do not want to use glue lol.

On 22 yr old car, occasionally glue is involved. I agree with the do it right philosophy but i no longer have e53 to take a look for you. When you look on realoem for the part number any chance there's an outdated model was replaced and they changed something making not exactly fit?

Is this the part: 61138372280?

If so, it appears to have expansion rivets the type a plastic pin is pushed though to expand to grip. If you can't find the right size plastic pin, a 2.5 mm stainless screw would probably work perfectly.

Example of the type of expansion rivets that seem to match your description. If you had an undersized rivet you can add a layer or two of heat shrink tubing to make it snug

Aren't those tabs on the front side supposed to be pressed in to expand the rivets on the back side?

Thank you both. I think you're onto something with pushing the posts through to secure it in the wheel well. I will update you on Tuesday when I'm back with the car.
