Applying service bulletin software updates at home

Is this feasible to apply software updates at home? I really dislike going to the dealer, partially because its so expensive but they are also far away.

I am working through a throttle tip in problem (stumble/hesitation), have replaced a lot of hardware already; see here: https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...5-speed-5.html

I found a throttle delay service bulletin and called the dealer, they confirmed it has not yet been applied. The bulletin # is B1220404 or CD38.

Here is an old related thread: https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...tle-delay.html

I already have a USB to OBD2 interface and have successfully connected INPA to the car, done monitoring and code resets, etc.

You can run through the entire update for the car (new daten file) but I doubt that includes the DME, usually anything that can alter emissions is "dealer only," just an educated guess though.

I was able to update the DME (from ZUSB 7560398 to 7582621) and the EGS (from ZUSB 7533760 to 7557980) a few years back. Not super difficult but IIRC, you use WinKFP. I'll try to find the website that showed me how to do it.
