How are people torquing ball joints?

I've just done my rear suspension and I'm having trouble torquing the upper control arm to the wheel carrier.

To prevent the ball joint spinning in place while tightening you need to hold the shaft still but then you can't use a socket to torque to spec which is 165Nm.

Cheers

Use 2 wrenches or a wrench extender to tighten something you already torqued to spec to get the feel and then make that one at least as tight! ;)

Lol so "seat of the pants' spec.

How do the shops do it?

i used impact to get it tight enough to stop spinning then i used a torque multiplier and put in a third of spec. It's worked every time. Once you get to a bit over a hundred twenty ft·lb you shouldn't have the fitting spin.

You can use a hammer on a wrench if you don't have an impact gun.
