2001 X5 frozen windows
this winter. anytime it gets below about 28 degrees.. my windows freeze.. they won't go down until i've driven for a while and the inside door panel warms up a bit. I've only had one other car to this.. a long time ago.. but this is chronic.. is there an easy fix for this? thanks

I've used anti freeze spray the night before when it's wet out and the temps cross below freezing. Also on the door seal. I've had to crawl in the trunk more than once.
Else you can usually use something like a credit card to break the ice under the rubber seal at the bottom of the window. Be careful with the door handles when the same conditions present themselves. There's a design defect that will freeze the latch mechanism if the dew point is just wrong causing the internal latch to lock up and tug on the door handle will break the hinge at the axle. Once you fix yours, always pay attention when it's below freezing out. If the door handle doesn't freely lift and feels like it's binding try a different door or use key to roll down the window to use inner handle. (I've had to do that before plenty when my door handle carrier broke or my key cylinder broke). –awr– Using Tapatalk VIP on iPhone |
