2006 E53 4.4i (N62) Crankshaft Position Sensor Location?

Hello all,
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction as there are little to no guides out there to help locate where I can replace my crankshaft position sensor. I have the part bought from FCP euro but my Bentley manual says it is underneath the "left rear engine block" and the RealOEM shows it to be in the side of the bell housing. |

TIS and Bentley call for measuring with a feeler to get the gap correct between the sensor and flywheel. I couldn’t do this without removing the stiffener plate, so I opted to simply install the new one and see how it worked. No problems as it turned out, but I don’t know if I just got lucky.

I recommend using a digital caliper to compare new vs. old the ckp is Stoopid sensitive to distance to the "teeth" on the sensor ring. I read the same feeler gauge note and would prob just measure to get close.
