If so what are your thoughts, and 0- 60 times?

i looked at what the Dinan kit does, and it only gives you like 10 hp increase. I would check with the 330i group as that is the same engine. Yahoo groups must have a group for that popular car.
Let me know how it goes as I was drooling over the Bavarian Auto part. Kevin 2001 X5 3.0i |
does dinan have a supercharger for the 3.0?
|
No, Dinan does NOT make a supercharger for the M54 3.0 liter engine.
However, go to www.esstuning.com and ESS does make one for most BMWs including the X5 3.0i. They are from Norway, but they do have a headquarter in the U.S. in the San Diego area. You can have one installed there in San Diego area as well. They claim 0-60 mph in 6.4 seconds with X5 3.0i steptronic and 0-60 mph in 6 seconds with the X5 3.0i with 5-speed manual tranny. Quote:

Kewl...that's good information to know. That 6k price is so tempting, but unfortunately, does NOT include installation. So I guessed when it's all said and done, the supercharged may run about 8-10k out the door :(

VFEngineering makes a whole line of superchargers for the X3 and X5. If you are interested send me an email, [email protected]
|
Isn't VFEngineering based in Orange County....I think in Anaheim, CA?
http://www.vfengineering.com/ I went to their website, and they don't have a supercharger kit for X5 3.0i However, they do carry supercharger for X3 2.5i/3.0i and X5 4.4, 4.6i, & 4.8i Quote:

lol~ spending 8k to supercharge 3.0, you can trade in your 3.0 and get a same 4.4 used for about 5k more.... sorry~ but it just seem to make more sense to me...
|
That's the problem. It only make sense if the whole thing cost less than 5K out the door. Else, the 4.4i makes much more sense since it would definitely be much more reliable than a supercharged 3.0i as well.

now we are in the topic of 4.8~ lol~ this will never end~ does it? let's just custom 760 in our X~ o wait~ the supercharge problem will come up again~ :-p
|
Right, unfortunately they do not have anything for the 3.0. They are working on the X3 kits.
All VF kits come with a full 3 year/unlimited mileage warranty. |
well I have a manual transmission.....oh the fun it would be...
|
of a 6.5 sec truck.. well..guess what.. it still puts you in the category of being blown away by stock honda accords, camrys, cobalts, neons etc..

But, it would be neat to see a 4600-4800 lbs SUV to keep up with those cars and if you can drive as well as Hayaku, you could out handle those cars especially with the RE Camber Plates.:)
However, I haven't seen any V6 Camry do 0-60 mph in 6.5seconds? Honda & Cobalts and Neons, maybe..... Quote:

well it says 0-60 in 6 flat not 6.4, besides how many people have a manual transmission SUV that can do those kinds of speed? That's almost as fast as a 4.8.
|
Don't mind Josh (SansGuru), he doesn't even have a X5. Don't understand why he likes to torment people.....schadenfreuden is what Josh enjoys!

let's see.. even Curtis' ESS supercharged 4.6 doesn't run 6 sec 0-60.. you are dreaming.. so you add 100 hp to a 3.0 which puts you at 325~ which means you got the same HP as a 4.4.. last time I checked 4.4's don't run 6sec or even high 14 sec qtr miles.. again.. might as well sell it and buy a 4.4 or 4.8...
and no I don't have the X5 any more but I have 1000+ hp in my garage. Quote:

i dont understand why VFEngineering doesnt make a 3.0 setup i mean isnt the x3 3.0 use the same exact engine?

I really don't know how accurate ESS Tuning 0-60mph times are, but I do have to remind you that the X5 3.0i does have a 4.10:1 rear end and the 4.4i has a taller rear end (3.6ish?)....
I drove Adam's X5 4.4i the other day in local traffic and noticed it did have more torque, but the it did not seem much faster than my X5 3.0i around town and also the 4.4i was not as rev happy because of the taller gearing. The X5 3.0i steptronic around town is very spirited and seem more rev happier and the shorter gearing allows the 3.0i to get up and go! Of course, once you get on the highway, you can't beat the mid-range torque from the 4.4i! Remember, people have improved their 0-60 mph time by putting in a shorter rear end in the E46 M3. Also, the X5 3.0i is about 200-300 lbs lighter than the 4.4i However, the X5 3.0i 5-speed manual's 1st gear is really short and combined with the X5 3.0i's rear end short end, you can get the X5 going pretty fast....add 100 hp, you can have a improved 0-60 mph time. ESS Tuning is based in Norway and maybe they did their test on a 20F degree day? Also, the stock X5 3.0i 5-speed manual 0-60 mph time is about 0.4 second quicker than the 3.0i automatic. (Stock X5 3.0i 5-speed 0-60 mph is about 7.8 seconds; stock X5 3.0i steptronic 0-60 mph is about 8.2-8.3 seconds) Quote:
