Door question

I've been troubleshooting my car for the wet rear seat floors and was waiting for the next big rain after cleaning my sun roof drains. I didn't get anything out of them and they didn't seem clogged, so I was not hopeful that i fixed the problem.

Long rains for the last couple days and sure enough, the X has water in both sides in the back. Further, it rained so hard and long that I actually saw water migrating around the bottom of the door (inside of the wx striping) and into the car. I also see bubbles when I press on the two plugs in the bottom of the door now, so clearly water is pooling in the door.

Hopefully you guys can help me understand what is going on before I pull the door cards and risk all the old plastic problems that this job entails. I have two new vapor barriers, which seems to be the cause, but just what is supposed to happen to the water that pools inside the door, after I install the barriers, with new butyl tape i have on order?

Is there a door drain(s) that I'm not seeing that the water is supposed to drain out of but instead is finding a more easy/clear path past the barrier and into the car? And if so, do I need to make sure these are clear? I can't imagine the door is supposed to be 100% water tight so no rain gets in at all, or that the rain doesn't have anywhere to go should it get in (other than into the car).

I've got a couple days before my butyl tape gets in, so any advice is welcome before I pull both rear door cards.

Most likely its one or more of the rear door vapor barriers coming loose at the bottom.
Don't be afraid pull the door cards...it's a skill we all need ... Glue the broken plastic bits back on with RTV and clamps.

Not likely to be a sunroof drain but I suppose it's possible.

Thanks, and sorry about the double post. Got caught in some do-loop trying to post originally. Drains should be clear as I snaked them with weed wacker line and then a flush with water. This is the first time I actually saw water running from the bottom of the door, on the interior side of the bottom ex stripping, and into the car at the door sill plastic protector. Not a a huge gusher, but the carpet just wicks it up when it gets under the sill.

Yeah, I’ve got some experience with door cards…enough to know they never get better when you have to remove them. I try to grab any spare cards I find on eBay when the removal damage is catastrophic, but I can’t find any rear doors lately.

Is it maybe entering through the rail track on the window bottom?

Pulled the left side card off, cleaned up 80% of the butyl, closed the door and tried to sim ran from above with the hose. Water definitely getting into the door and finding its way to the inner skin, amd from there I assume down the back of the vapor barrier and into the car. Again though, I don’t know what is normal for water intrusion into the door. I can’t imagine it’s fully water tight at the window seals, etc.

“As long as I’m in there…” I’m also contemplating finally replacing he plastic seal around the small triangular window. It could be related as mine are deteriorated, and I’ve had new pieces for both sides sitting in my storage space for a few years. The job seems super painful, but now that I’m 50% of the way. I recall a write up somewhere here from some enterprising soul who tackled this several years ago. Hopefully I can find it.

You can see water on both the inner and outer door skin below. There were a few other location where it was clearly dripping down as well.

Pls post the link here if you do. I want to replace those on mine too.

Is this the correct part?

Willdo. Traveling for work currently, but may tackle this when I get home. Or at least take some trim pieces off to get a sense, hopefully, of what I’m dealing with. I suspect the small triangular window will need to be cut out of the frame, in order to get the plastic surrounding piece off and replaced.
