Grimey Power Steering Container

So I finally have a weeked to *breath* in what seems like months and I decide to spruce up the X with a quick winter wash, clay job and interior wipedown.
Busy doing a mini detail and decide to wipe the engine bay also.

For the most part all is clean, EXCEPT that the PS container was GRIMEY as hell. Not the top where the cover is, but on the outer body shell. I did end up wiping away the gunk&grime that was on the surface of it. I suspect the gasket is not making a good connection with the cover and some may have leaked out. I don't have any PS fluid at home so time to buy a new clean turkey baster and do a mini-fluid swap since I have the cover open.

Anyone else experiance this. Knock on wood....I haven't had any major gripes with the X like some of you had. Only issue for me was 4-5 visits on a bad trunk latch and on the LAST visit, I brought it to a different dealer who swapped out the actuator and all was good !

I've done the turkey baster "refresh", but did it just as a "maint thing"...my canister had some road grime, but pretty clean.

where is the power steering fluid container located? I can't seem to find it, I found the brake fluid..

I hear ya MD. For the most part, the engine bay is clean with just a little leftover winter sand + salt. The outer shell was weird though ! Greasy, thick and lotsa sand/grime mixed with the grease. I'm going to just add it to my list for Service I visit which is this Tuesday.

The PS steering fluid container is right below the coolant container housing. Ya can't miss it !

That's normal. The p/s reservoir is designed to bleed off excess fluid from the top lip.

Thanks for the info. Never knew that.....
