relating to my post below about wanting to remove amber from my xenon headlights...

i have an '01 w/ xenons...ebay has for sale a headlight assembly with clear corners but it says that the ballasts and bulbs are not included...do i need the ballasts or can i use them from my current xenon's..i dont even know what ballasts are...i have brand new bulbs coming - can i buy ballasts cheap?

any suggestions

how hard would these be to install? do i just unclip the old headlights and clip these in?

the guy on the phone told me they are plug and play and that they are made from the same manuf that makes the product for BMW

The link in your last message is to a product that is definitely not OEM. Whatever they're telling you, I'd take with a grain of salt. I ordered a pair of clear corner lights from that same seller (carpartswholesale) for my 740, and the build quality was very light, actually pretty flimsy. They'd be functional, I guess, but I decided not even to install them b/c they I didn't have confidence they'd last.

I haven't seen their X5 lights, but would at least caution you to look at OEM first. FYI, I got a pair of new OEM Xenon's (both sides- New in Box- Bulbs incl but no ballasts) for $469 + Shipping. That's actually cheaper than these aftermarket ones you're looking at if you buy a pair at $250/ea.

I also bought my pair off Ebay- the trick was setting up a "favorite search" so I'd get an email each day there was a new match. I happened to find someone with a very low Buy It Now. I was concerned about lights being stolen, gray-market, etc, but found a trust worthy seller (~1000 feedback- caters to OEM) & the deal was totally straight-forward.
It's common to see em run up to $1000, depending on condition & options (clear/amber, angels or none, pre-or post '03), but the occasional good deal can definitely be found, even from good sources.

That is an awesome deal I would jump on something like that...and thanks for talking some sense into me and helping me have some patience...I wouldnt want to put crappy parts onto a truck that we pay so much money for...I will do the favorites search thing and wait for the right deal.
