dumb question
 
I have a 01 4.4 and im going to be upgrading the stereo.
everything is going to be in the spare tire well.
Above the battery is some kind of motor or pump in a round metal cover.
I was wondering what it is and if it can be relocated.

Rear air springs compressor, doubtful.

That is the compressor for the air suspension system on the rear wheels. Probably best no to mess with it.
