Interior Lights won't come when doors open?
 

The fuses are good and the filiment glows? Is their a proximity switch that controls the lights?

if the front windshield spray and the gearbox lighting also dont work, then its a fuse issue you got!

Try pressing the main interior light on/off switch in the overhead console to see if you previously held it down for 3+ seconds, as this will shut off all interior lights until such time as the switch is again pressed to turn them back on.

What do you mean by this? If you are seeing a glow on the fuse then it's blown and needs to be replaced.

The fuses visually look good not blown. The lights under the doors glow(the filiment) when the door is opened. It appears electricity is reaching the bulb but maybe their is a bad ground? Does anyone have wiring diagrams? Or know where the door switches are that control the lights ?:(

The wiring diagram does not (in my version) provide info to where the switches are located. It could be the supply/ground to your door module or even a defective module?

I have had some bad fuses look good before maybe just try replacing the fuses just in case.

Also I don't have a X5 but an e46 instead and I did a OEM footwell lighting retrofit. If the wiring is anything similar in one way or another the interior lights to directly to the fuse panel there is a comb connector that should house all the + lines for each interior light IE: Dome Light, Footwell Lights and Pillar Lights

The Red/Blue wire was my Positive line for Interior Lightning notice all the other Red/Blue wires for my 2000 323i. I know youdidn't request for all this info and it might not even relate to you guys/gals X's but just food for thought.

BMW usually uses Brown for Ground BTW

I would change the fuses out first just in case.

Pry out the window/mirror control switch on the driver side door. There are 3 wire connectors on the back of the switch. The one toward front is control to the interior lights when door open. Make sure it connect securely. I cut a piece of zip tie tip and stuck between the locking tab and connector, after that, it works beautifully. By the way, this same connector, also controls door locker. Sometimes you think that your driver side door locker failed, but in reality, it is really faulty connector due to aging.

Double check the settings in the manual for your courtesy lighting. I have an E70 and recently had an issue similar to this. I tried my reset during the daylight hours and it would not work. First time I tried the reset at night it worked.
