4. Front Drive Shafts
5. Thrust Bushings
6. P/S Hose Pump Torack

Give me a break... 99.9% sure they are trying to scam you. Why would you need new front drive shafts?

I still have 2001 330i, I took the car in before waranty expired they couldn't find any problem what so ever. As soon as waranty expired they claimed to have so much work to do including the ever familiar actuators, temperature sensors, etc... Apparently that's how they make up for the loss during waranty period. I should remember to dump my X5 as soon as waranty expires.
FYI The bill stacked up to 3G.

don't tell me.. you went to Steven's Crooks... The micro filter, coolant flush AND oil change is part of the $600 for inspection 2. I suggest that if you are going to SC, to run away from there and go somewhere else. It's not common, KewlX5 (charles) has 130K on his and he spent 1/10 of that. The drive shaft replacement is definitely not common but the PS pump and thrust bushings are. Again, I echo everybody else's sentiment, go find an independent.

It's ok for me, although I should take my X5 to other independent service shop as you suggested. I can't believe that I should pay another $4000 to repair my X5. Are these problems common for a 60000 miles/4 years X5? Drive belt and rear brake should be replaced for a 60000 miles/4 years X5? But how about drive shaft, thrust bushing, and hose pump torack? Are they common?

BTW, is there any news about new big change of 2007 or 2008 X5, such as outlook, engine? The question is that whether I should wait for 2007 or 2008 X5. I heard there could be X7. But it seems it's rumor.

Usually how many miles will you expect to drive for your X5 before buying a new car? I expected 100000 miles. Is it reasonable?

Thanks you all,
Michael
