error message
Today, I had the following error message "trans failsafe prog". I stoped the engine of the car (X5, 2002) and when I restarted, the message was gone.
Do I have transmission problem? |
Doubtful, but if you're under warranty, you could get it checked out. I had the rear susp. inactive error the other day shut off, restarted nothing since.

Hey Pgatscha,
1st Off, Welcome the X5World! 2nd, I hate to say it, but this just happened to me yesterday on my way home, so we're in the same boat with the Trans. Failsafe thing. Problem is, mine hasn't gone away since then. I've restarted car a couple times since it's parked at home, but the error pops up each time after the Seat Belt msg finishes. Anyways, since you're new to the board, you may not know you can search for "Failsafe" in the forums. I came across 20 helpful threads yesterday, and now it's at least 21! Hope this helps & please report back if it recurs or gets serviced. I'd appreciate any insights & will do the same. Best, M1 |
thank you. I will go and look for failsafe in the forum.

Trans failsafe prog
I had a "Trans failsafe prog" error message the other day and the BMW dealership found the error: a broken cell in the battery.
The error message has not reappeared. Thank you for the prompt replies I had on this forum. Pgatscha |
