I guess Nobody Knows this one!!!!

I live in Toronto and weather is really cold today, i just started my car and i got a message on the dash saying, SELFLEVEL SUSP. INACT.
Then i shut the car off and restarted it and the message was gone, what could it be? Do you think its from the cold weather? or no?

Hopefully just one of those momentary glitches that BMW electronics are famous for. I wouldn't worry about it unless it keeps reoccurring.

A fellow Toronto X5 driver!...I had the same message 2 weeks ago. I called Nicholas at BMW Toronto and he said not to worry if it was the first time and it went away. The Self Leveling Suspension is the last item to go through diagnostics and is very sensitive to voltage. Any slight drop in voltage will cause the error.

i too encountered the same problem and did exactly what you did (restart) and I have had no problems since. It was a very cold day I might add, maybew that had something to do with it.

it's extremely common across all model years...

Hi all,
Had the same problem yesterday. Also turned off, turned on. Went away.
Ironic thing is, earlier that morning I was in a BMW service center where they fixed a loose wiper main nut (causing wipers to stick mid-windscreen). A coincidence??
