4.6 Brake Roter Question

I looked at the articles first this time :)

I did the rear pads on the X5 this weekend. I was going to take the roters to be turned but I could not get the dang things off. I have done this on my 4.4 and 540i with no issues. Knock it with the mallet and it pops off. This came loose but almost felt as if it was secured with a spring of some sort. It would wiggle but not come free.

Keep in mind this is a 4.6. Any ideas?

ABS sensor maybe need to be wiggled loose? Heat shield (does a 4.6 have those?) hanging it up? Emergency brake off? :D

Anyone else?

Didnt look to be held up on the shield. Now I did not think of the EBrake. I thought the ebrake applied pressure to the pads not the roter.

Yeah, me too, but it's just another one of those things you might wanna try. I left mine on when I lifted the X for a rotor job recently and we couldn't get the rotor off till I released it, but I can't remember exactly cause I was BSing with someone at the time.
