One more Q from the Peanut Gallery...Tranny Jerk

Ok. This is the last Q tonight....Really

My 4.6 is doing something that to me seems odd. I don't remember the 4.4 doing it as it is anoying as heck.

Upon normal every day acceleration between 35 and approimatly 43MPH if you back off the accelerator and while the car is transitioning from adding power to reversing power the car will judder (my own special word) 3 or so times. And if you gently re-apply power it will do the same thing. It does not do it at higher speeds just in that range. Unfortunatly it is a common around town speed. Thus the irritation. It is as if the transfer of power is not smooth.

Anyone else have this?

You mean you can feel the clutch disc engaging...yes?

That is probably correct. It is in the power transfer for sure.

I had this when going from R to D and they had to reprogram my tranny. Had to send the part away to BMW to do it too. Took a few days.

Shudder is a perfect way to describe it too.

Tim this might well be a torque converter going bad ... Apparently this is not an isolated incident for a 4.6is ... Same happend on mine ...
