Carbon Fiber Coating
Hi guys!
So, the mechanic friend of ours who installed my chrome rings was talking about carbon fiber coating for the interior. He said he'd seen it on a few cars and like the way it looked. Has anyone done this to their X? If so, how do you like it? Does anyone have pics? Thanks! ~Michelle~ |

Jan/jmh did this mod on his X:
http://www.janixworld.com/x5/Carbon%20Fiber%20Trim/ Get a carbon fiber visor and you'd be all set to gangsta lean and roll! JV |
Carbon fiber looks gangsta? Have you seen it in person?

It looks good to me! JV |
I've never seen it in person... only the pics that Jan posted. It looks very sharp, though. So, aside from Jan, has anyone seen it in person?
|
It looks great with Jan's interior, but mine is just plain black leather...
|
Yeah, Michelle certainly belongs to the gangsta and sista demographic. :D
I'd love to see that CF in person before I decide, but from the looks of it, it's a sharp looking, classy mod. :dunno: Quote:

Certainly gives the X5 interior a custom look.

ROFL!

I'd most likely do it if I had the black leather interior. |

I haven't seen it in person but I like the look. Think it looks good with the black interior.

thanks but was looking for more "real" Carbon Fiber. I like Carbon Fibre and have it in my other motor but it's from Hamann and cost ££££££ and indeed have had a few bits custom built. check out my cuxtomX page and you will see some of it there, The chap from Germany has given up though think there may be someone in Aussie land will need to check out. |

when i was looking around at getting the carbon fiber i wanted quality as well as price and i got both with these folks. I initially sent a couple of emails to John at Modicoat and told him what i wanted , he was already familiar with this project being that Janix had done a similar project. I told him how many pieces i wanted done and which pattern of weave i wanted and he gave me an estimate of the price and the shipping. I was able to find someone selling the X5 wood trim kit on ebay for a reasonable price. I also purchased the door handles since they are prone to peeling and the M steering wheel trim and had them done in carbon fiber also.. I sent the wood trim kit and the door handles to Modicoat. The turn around was about 3 weeks from time of shipment and after installing the new trim i sold my light polar trim on ebay The quality is excellent it looks and feels original, it looks much better in person, and the guys at the dealer takes a liking to it each time i go in for service or parts. So all together i spent around $600 out of pocket plus shipping , not bad considering what AC Schnitzer which is around $2500, and the other place wants around $1900 http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...Picture103.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...Picture100.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...Picture084.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...Picture090.jpg http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f2...h_DSC00175.jpg |
I wouldn't put fake CF on any bmw let alone X5.
You guys should check out www.fiber-design.net They do custom real CF wrapping. |
