Help! My a/c stopped working

Well, actually not all of it, the rear vents still are operating. However, all the vents in the front have stopped putting out air, heat, anything. And it is all the vents, defroster, foot, everything.

Has anyone had this problem? I just picked the car up last week CPO'ed, but that doesn't mean anything I guess. It is a '02 3.0 auto if you need that information, thanks

Thanks Greg,

Are you sure though that it is the final stage piece even though my rear climate vents are still blowing?

9 times out of 10 that is the cause. Do a search on "final stage resistor" and do some reading. Good luck !

You mean the CPO warranty doesn't cover even the climate control? I would be bitching at the dealer if that happened to me...especially after only picking up the car for one week.

It will be covered by the warranty. I spoke to the stealership and they will waive the deductable that would normally be paid because it is only a week since I picked it up.

Yeah, it is probably the final stage resistor. Mine did the same thing in august last year. And in florida august gets very hot. But it is something that is easily reapiared. Even if the dealership didn't cover it the labor shouldn't be too bad. But hten again you never know.

Happen to me when I picked up my 02 4.4 CPO about a month ago...air stopped blowing.....it was friday at 6:00...and I didn't have time the next day to take it in...so I went to the parts department(open till 7)...bought the part ...replaced it in about an hour or less...and I had nice cold blowing air again.....faulty part in my book...the new one looks completely different...

Hey, it happened with my X5 too. I had to drive in winter time few days without heat. I went to part department and bought the replacement and I changed it my self. Just follow the instruction in the article how to replace the final stage resistor and you will be fine. The original part and the replacement part are not the same so don't freak out. Good luck to you.

Called the dealer yesterday and let them know about the problem and told them that you guys though it was the final stage resistor. Service manager told me it was not as the air just stopped working. Guess what was on my receipt when i picked it up? Of course, final stage resistor. Oh, well at least it is fixed. Thanks for all your help.
