Replacing MAF Sensor?
Has anyone replaced this themselves? (Stealer wants $1K) . . .
1 K seems extremely high. Ive never changed it on my X5 but have changed it on other BMWs before and its pretty simple. So you should be able to figure it out.
How do you know it bad and how many miles and what year is your X5 |
It's a '00 4.4, 64k on it, the dealer qouted it after running a diagnostic . . . so now i am looking for DIY instructions?
literally takes under one minute on that truck no coding needed of any kind just have them clear you service engine soon light aftre you install it. only tool needed id a flat head screwdriver to get the hose clamp off
Where is it located, is it easy to get too?
To the right of your air filter housing. Large black plastic soup can with two shiny hoseclamps. To the left of the BMW logo on the engine. The Bosch part is $282. from www.alloemautoparts.com If you can change a tire you can tackle this, but if you really have no experience get some help so you can get the air filter and sensor clip connected properly. And wear gloves so the screwdriver does not freeze to your hand. (LOL)

before replacing the MAFs though, try cleaning it. It made a huge difference on my E39 M5. Check these threads out for detailed instructions.
