Replace OEM Nav with aftermarket unit?

Has anyone replaced their BMW OEM navigation (MKiV) with an aftermarket unit like the Pioneer or Eclipse. I would keep the OEM unit and replace it, if and when I sell the car, but for now I would like a more user freindly system. No flames please...I love my X5 and just want to improve on one of the few things BMW (i feel) shortchanged us. Thanks

It is not possible to replace only the MKiV NAV computer. The wiring is obviously specific to the OEM screen but more importantly it is made for the iBus. To switch to an aftermarket unit, you would have to replace both the dash headunit and the nav computer.

I know some without nav have put in aftermarket systems mainly due to the fact that the OEM system costs so much. However I don't know of anyone that has ripped out the OEM system to install another system. I wouldn't wreck the nice clean OEM look of the dash.:)
