indicator problem
I have a 2001 x5 and i am having problems with the l/h front indicator. It is sometimes working and sometimes not. You can tell when its not by the obvious quick flash of the indicator signal on the dash. I called bmw and they said the bulb is gone even though it does sometimes work. They also wanted £59.95 to replace it.Haha I said to them so I decide to take the headlight out and look for myself. To my non surprise I found the bulb to be ok and both elements are intact. My thoughts are the fuse relay but has anyone had this before and if so do they know what it is for sure? Many thanks

Change the bulb and make sure all the contacts are clean. A filament can look OK but have a break.

Hi Zu
would the indicator still work at times though if the element has gone?

thanks for that fellas. Have removed the headlight already. Took about 2 mins and not the ridiculous time of 45 mins the Bmw Cooper dealership in Reading Berkshire quoted.

Now, now! Those poor stealers have got to make a living somehow. $302 for an alignment in the US and they didn't even do it correctly.

Yeah I do feel sorry for them driving around in there brand new x5s and z4s which we pay for.haha

Sometimes it's a bad socket. Check for corrosion and good contact.
