Tire Advice
 

Hi there,

I just ordered the 20" factory replicas and now I'm off trying to find tires to mount them. I ran across the Toyo Proxes T1's for $1080.00 out the door. My question is, is anyone here using these on their X5 and if so, do you experience allot of road noise? Some of the tire places are telling me not to get them because of the noise, but the price I can't resist. Also, this is the size I'm thinking of going with.
Rear tires, 315/35-20 10.5",
Front tires, 275/40-20 9.5"



Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated?

how much did you pay and where did you get the rims? they couldn't do a package with tires already mounted and balanced?

I got the replica 87s in the same size with Toyo Proxes S/T for $2200 shipped. I've heard the T1s were good tires, but they were a little stiffer and noisier. They are considered summer only tires, and thus ultra high performance. I would think that they wouldn't last for more than 2 seasons, at best, depending on how long your summer is. Plus, I would expect them to become even more noisier as the trends were down.

For myself, I considered all the above as negatives, and I would go for the Proxes instead.

Craig, get the toyo S/T you will not be dissappointed. They are better in every way than the michelin. The Toyos will last you longer, carry more load, and actually look more aggressive and better IMHO. They have a stiffer side wall as well. Most guys here can tell you that the Diamaris have a tread life of about 15-20k miles before they are cooked and start to make a lot of noise. The toyos should be good for at least 25k miles.
