newb question
Greetings to all, I've been lurking on this forum for months, and now I've finally given in. My girl and I just put a deposit down on a '05 sterling grey 4.4 with every option available except nav. Her lease on her 325Ci is up so we needed to get a new car. But after testing driving everything from the Cayene (sp?) to the M3, we decided the x5 was a more practical and logical choice.
This might be a silly question but, has anyone installed the 4.6/4.8 instrument gauges on a 4.4? I like everything on the car but I kinda wanna give it more the 'M' look. Any positive feedback is appreciated. |
Yes, that has been done. It will work but note that several functions on the new cluster may not work, such as the oil temp lights. You will also have to have the cluster coded to the vehicle in order to avoid having the mileage tampering warning light come on.
TommyX did this in his 4.4i, as I recall. |
well noted...recommend anyone who sells/installs the gauges?

you can get the cluster from your parts counter at the local dealership or call up some dealers known for internet sales discounts like vaheh over at crevier bmw. |
eBay has them once in a blue moon.

Welcome! Don't second guess those BMW engineers too much, dude, they know their stuff! Some of the designers on the other hand...ugh. You'll be mondo happy with your new X5!
