Seat Belt

Does anyone know if there is anyway to deactivate the seatbelt function that forces both people in the front seats to put their seatbelts on?

I have seen this question asked before and I don't think there is a way to disable that. I believe all 2005 vehicles come with this feature and also if you open the seat belt it beeps continuosly till you belt again or leave the car. DOT mandated. :tsk:

Why would you or your pass. not wanna wear the belt?

Here's the best write-up I've seen on fixing it. :D

last week I spoke with
the electrics guy at our
dealership and he told me
that it's possible to remove
the warning light and sound.
It will take him 30 min :dunno:
but why should you do this!

I didn't originate this thread but -

I'd like to remove the passenger alarm because I have the habit of putting my laptop backpack on the passenger seat when i get into the car and it makes the alarm go off... Drives me nuts.

If you don't have an X5 with the passenger alarm it may sound like an odd thing to want to disable but honestly ANY amount of weight on the passenger seat causes the alarm to go off... It's annoying... I mean my laptop backpack can't weight more than 15 pounds.
