There is a few people in this blog that removed there running boards because they did not like the look, especially on black and dark colors. Besides, If you drive out to me in Dix Hills Ill remove them and install mine on yours. If our in let me know and the first day of nice weather Ill stick them on yours.

Bavarian Motorwerks Running Boards

Is anyone seriously interested in these? I would get them and do a diy writeup/review if I thought it would be helpful.

Let me know, I've been lurking for some time now and have become somewhat of a mod nut. I have a 2001 3.0 and have done the high OBC retro, Nav Retro, Sirius install, Glovebox Nakamichi, Aux input, and Brushed pedals/e-brake handle.

I'm currently involved with a serius Phoenix Gold install with custom fiberglass enclosure, and next on the docket are Rogue Engineering Pulleys and Camber Plates, H&R Lowering Springs, Jlevi Angel Eyes and LED lights, Bavarian Motorwerks gauge rings and 10 pc CF pillar set, and carpc install. All ordered last night (except carpc stuff, I'm still building the interface board.)

Thanks for all the great info you guys have made available. This is truly a great resource for the DIYer

Nick

Bump

Just wanted to bump this to see if anybody is interested. I may just start a new thread because this is kind of buried.

i'm definitely interested...i even started a thread! oops...
i'm just nervous. i usually pay a little more for things bc i believe you get what you pay for, yk?

how difficult is it to install the OEM RB's...layman's terms, please!!

Nickeb420 04-25-2006 12:10 AM

I'm not sure how hard the OEM install is as I have not performed it. In referencing the write-ups in the X5world articles it doesn't appear to be rocket science.

I agree with you on paying more for quality, but I also don't mind knock-offs of acceptable quality for a pretty big discount. ACS pedals are a good example along with replica wheels which many members have bought.

Since nobody seems to know about these things I've got a set on order and will do some extensive photo taking and I'll probably even do my first ever X5 World write up.

On a side note I just finished baking some headlights and everything turned out great. Another successful mod thanks to the X5world resources.

Bavarian Motorwerks Running Boards & Other Stuff

Hey Nick, I'm also interested in the Bav Motorwerks RB's. Someone mentioned they may not have as much support as the OEM ones. But just curious, would people actually use the RB's to step up into the vehicle? I'm just considering the look and the Bav's don't look too bad in the pics. Keep us posted. Also, how are the gauge rings you got from Bav's? Are they blinding?
