X travels the Atlantic again
Well the great European vacation is over. My X and I are driving from Poland to Zeebrugge Belgium next week, shes being loaded on a RoRo and on April 11th I pick her up in NYC for a drive to her new home in Denver, CO 3 days later.
For a california girl she's come a long way. I will miss comparing notes face to face with Ajogu but he's promised to visit:thumbup: Wish me luck! Location has already been changed back to US on profile:) |

Thanks JV its going to be a long couple of weeks with my fingers crossed again, but not as bad as from California to Rotterdam, she was containered that trip and when I went to pick her up in Rotterdam one of the warehouse guys was racing out of the warehouse with her at full throttle as we are driving down the road to the warehouse. Thought she was being stolen like the last one for a second:yikes:
Anyway I've got my fingernails to wear down:tsk: |

Well 934.3 Miles and 14 hours of driving later the X is on the RoRo bound for NYC.
Least miles in an hour & Country: 12 Miles - Poland Most miles in an hour & Country: 131 Miles - Germany Most times picture taken exceeding speed limit & Country: 7 counted by flash - Netherlands Fastest Speed: 141MPH - Germany Its been fun in Europe and I will miss all my European friends but work calls, as does a new house. Cheers for HB Ajogu!!!! |
Mine is due to go the other way, it will be on its way to the UK from California some time in June.Dont know exactly the date yet.
I am still undecided as to weather RoRo or containerized. :) :) :) |
Avonside, I found that container from the West Coast (having done it twice) has its pros and cons. The car comes out reasonably dirty on the exterior (CA sand & dirt), you may have some small extra scratches but nothing serious. On the plus side the car is protected from the elements very well and the odd human wandering the deck who decides to sit in your pride and joy during his lunch/coffee break.
I am doing RoRo from Belgium to NYC as it was significantly cheaper from Europe to pursue this option than containering, also it was the only way I could get it on a regular sailing from the port I wanted. I also wanted another long road trip to Denver:-) If you need any info from CA let me know I have dealt with a few companies both who have worked out well and reasonable. |
Well folks the car made it to Port Newark a day late but none the worse for wear except for some dried sea salt on the passenger side of the car.
Had a small issue with customs but had the car within 3 hours then a quick drive down to Herndon, Virginia. Just writing this after driving 1200 miles between last night and tonight from VA to Lincoln, Nebraska. If anyone noticed I was the Highland Green, California registered X doing 100mph most of the day on the 80 and 76. 500 Miles to go and shes in her new home of Denver. Then DEN-LAX-LHR-WAW-FRA-DEN from Monday to Friday a quick 12,500 miles on the plane to move the last of my stuff from Europe along with my son and the animals. CEO going via London. Totally knackered here so going to sleep to finish my 500 in safety tomorrow. |
