Beeping sound

Today I was taking about a 10 mile trip to pick up some cigars in upstate NY. While driving on the highway from the dash of my X5 I heard a set of 3 beeps but nothing show up on any displays or nav screen. Driving back heard it again, cananyone tell me what the beeps are.

My guess is that it was the outside temp reading,
and when it encounters ambient outside temps
falling to/through 37 degs. F, it beeps 3 times.

That 37 or less, is the magic number for potential
of ice/slickshit forming on highways.

PS: all that kind of good stuff is to be discovered
in that marvelous set of books in the black zip case
in your glovebox, aka Da Manual!

PPS: I lived in Warwick, NY next to OldMt.Peter
ski area, from '87 to 2001.

its not that as he said also, nothing came up on dash etc.
Not easy to find in the little black book if you have no idea what your looking for...but thanks for the advice.

That's absoultely true. It's happened in my M3 several times.

Also, be responsible and wear your seatbelt:thumbup:

Did you notice that it beeps at about 15 secounds prior to each top of the hour? As I was on a long trip I noticed that how the chimes came or at least thats what my 4.6 does. Its like a chime you hear on a grandfather clock. Just my take on it...

Mindfull 03-24-2006 03:52 PM

:iagree: all 3 of those beeps (tho the clock-chime was only on my 740- not this X- I believe that's programmable thru obc), and one other:
If you're getting low on projected miles (I think about 25-30 miles remaining), a beep or two will alert you to get gas. I think it recurs at 15-20 miles as another reminder. Not sure if this fits your scenario, but it's another possibility.

Oh, and thx for the seatbelt reminder. It is easy to forget, but crazy things (like that bus over a cliff in Chile- driver survived, others died) remind me to brush up on it.

It was not the temp cause it was 48 degrees and it was not gas 3/4 of a tank.

I know those sounds this was different.
