Non sport chrome window trim removal

If you found a great deal on a non sport 4.4 can you change this horrific chrome windown trim to the sport black trim or are you asking for a night mare-ish task here ?

I was messing with mine the other night and it looks like some of actually slides off, I didn't take it fully off though to see what it takes, maybe this weekend, makes the X5 look like XC90 if you ask me.

Very simple, it just snapes in and out.
I recently had to replace the top half of the drives side fixed window.

anyone know how much it would be to swap out the chrome trim for black?

if you take the chrome off is there just the black rubber(plastic) trim underneath it maybe ?

I almost did this at one point; the cost is around $800 I believe if you're buying the brand new glossy black trim from the dealer.

Instead, I paid $550 for aluminum running boards and they match the trim and now it looks great. I do admit that the chrome trim looks out of place by itself though because it's the ONLY thing that is that color. Don't understand why they did it like that. Running boards help it out a lot!

That's my X - Sterling grey non sport. I thought about changing the trim but put chome tail pipes on instead. It grew on me. It's just a different look. I'm now considering the aluminum running boards also.

$800!!!! The trim cost more than Alum RBs? I'm not doubting you, SuperH, but if thats what BMW charges for a few feet of trim, thats outrageous.

I was more curious about the cost, but I also got the Alum RBs and chrome tails and it blends in quite nicely.
