2006 X5 Questions

Hi, I am new here and have a couple of questions I was hoping someone could answer for me.

I am hoping to get a 2006 X5 in either late July/August (when my 2004 Jeep end lease). I am a little confused about how this is going to work because of the new body style etc.

I am most likely going to order one because we are considering doing the SC pickup. Good reason for a vacation. However, I heard that these are no longer being manufactured as of March 2006. Where does that leave me? Am I just going to have to find one that fits my criteria at the dealerships? Is the 2007 only going to be the new body style? Having to buy this car late in 2006, I was hoping that it would be a 2007. We can't wait till the end of November, and am not comfortable getting a "new" bodystyle until all the quirks have been found etc.

THanks,

The 2007 will be the new X5. It's a new generation. Given BMW's track record with 1st year cars, I'd recommend that you run away from it using any humanly possible means.

The 2006 X5s are only offered in Executive Editions now (the second half of the production). Basically, these are nearly full-loaded cars with a reduced choice of exterior and interior colors.

In terms of reliability, these should be the best X5s out there. :)

So do you think in order for me to get the one I want I should jump on this sooner than july/august?

I would ask the dealer

I would ask the dealer how late and what you can order.

I got a great lease deal on my 4.4 X5 last July 39 mth lease with the same residual as 36.

I find that the lease deals are generally better in July than Aug but since this is the end of the Model its hard to tell.

i bought mine from Andrew at Habberstad BMW. They were very nice and have good service. They are also Dinan dealers.

You can get a steal of a deal once the E70 comes out, the E53 X5 will need to be unloaded by the dealer if they intend to receive E70's from BMW. So, that said, discontinued building of E53 X5's isn't a bad thing for someone in the 'new' E53 market.

Thanks!
I got my 2002 530i from Habberstad, I will give them a call. I have been BMW free for almost a year now and am looking forward to driving one again. I drove my brother in laws 2003 X5 4.4 last night and it was such a tease.
Now it is time to think about what options to get!

Have fun shopping. I find that haggling at the end of a fiscal quarter works to the buyer's advantage. If I go to a 2006, I will hit the lots in September.
