Part Numbers For Clear Bra (2006 X5)
Group,
Would anyone happen to have the definitive part numbers for the 2006 X5 clear (front) bra? I think there is a mirrors part number as well? A hood one? A front bumper one? I'm not sure if they all come in one package? If anyone could lend some expertise on this point, I would be appreciative. Thanks, Chris P.S. I know xpel sells this, but I'm looking for the O.E. part numbers from BMW...Thanks! |
The clearbra is not an BMW OEM offering. The few stealers that sell clearbra's are probably farming the work out to local installers who either cut their own plastic or buy the pieces from aftermarket sellers.
I'm getting my clearbra done by a guy who designs and installs vinyl decals for on vehicle advertisements. He bought a CD package containing all of the cutting templates for all popular cars; he cuts the pieces on his vinyl cutter which runs off his computer. Therefore, he didn't carry an inventory of clearbras, but instead cut the plastic as needed for each contracted installation. He's no longer doing clearbras, he now does advertisements on buses, taxis, and vans, but he's coming out of retirement to do mine. From what I've been able to detemine, the material costs are pretty much the same from installer to installer - it comes down to labor costs. |

I didn't realize we were both in L.A. My 2004 4.4 has the clear bra. I bought the clear bra from the stealer. They installed it (goofed it up the first time and paid for another set of clear's). Subsequently, there are dealer part #'s for these. This 2nd round of the clear install is for my 2006 which should arrive in two weeks or so. Just out of curiosity, who is doing yours/did yours (?) How much are you being charged? Chris |
it's not a true BMW part number. Dealers here in NorCal use clear armour. Dealers probably just slap a part number on it and charge a major premium. regardless, they are all made my 3M.

I got a special deal for $550 material and labor. My brother in law set it up; it's one of his high school buddies who's doing it. I haven't met the guy yet, I'm not getting it done until after it stops raining and I detail out my X5.

I'm thinking it's about a 3-4 hour job max.

My dealer refers everyone to a local auto trim shop - I believe it's a 3M product.
Anyone know how soon you can install one on a factory fresh X5? When I had the '01 in the shop for repair of dents, rock chips, etc, they told me I had to wait 3 months. Of course, now it has more chips to repair. At this rate I'll never get one. |
I have the Xpel clear bra for my X5 by www.Xpel.com. Its actually made by 3M and Xpel cuts its to specific vehicle sizes. You can install right out of showroom. Check pics on my page.
