AFE on 02 4.4i, hose question
I installed my AFE intake today. Fit was not good, no matter what, and I've installed CAI's for years. However, my biggest concern was the vacuum canister tube that has no place to go any longer. I've searched and can't find an answer and AFE is closed for the weekend.
If anyone has ever gotten a firm response from them, or knows whether I can just leave it disconnected, let me know please. Thank you, Joe Clark |
This has been discussed many times.
You will not get an answer from AFe. And I agree with the fit being poor. As for the tube, the concensus and what I did was put a small filter on the end of the tube. Do not leave it open as it is an engine intake. I believe it has something to do witht the emissions recirculation. It only sucks air when the engine is started cold. After warming up, there is no more suction. Tell us if you hear anything official from AFe. |

Just call AFE and they will send you a small filter for the fog hose.. free of charge

this tiny filter, is this only for the 4.4
or will it work for the 4.6 also? |
afe
wouldnt see why not but you have to probably call AFE to confirm
|
This is pissing me off. I WENT TO AFE and they told me the 4.4 kit would not work in the 4.6 because the small tube was only in the 4.6 and not the 4.4!!!
You'll get NO answers from them. |

i will be getting one of those litte filter thingies right away unless of course i can't just get one at the local pep boys |

This is the reason why i only buy Dinan parts. Say what you want about Dinan, but Dinan products have a fit and finish that is better than oem. They are the most reliable tuner out there. thats why i have no problem spending the extra money for Dinan.
